Windows and Glass: Description and Operation




Glass, Frames and Mechanisms

NOTE: The accessory delay feature will allow power window operation up to 10 minutes after the ignition is off or until a door is opened.

The glass, frames and mechanisms system consists of the following:

- Door window glass
- Door window glass run
- Door window regulator
- Door window regulator motor
- Power/manual sliding glass panel (if equipped)
- Power sliding window motor and regulator assembly (if equipped)
- Rear window glass assembly
- Window control switch
- Windshield glass

If equipped with power windows, the window control switch:

- will operate the power windows when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position, or the delayed accessory feature is active.
- is located on each front door trim panel and Crew Cab rear door trim panel.
- may be used to raise or lower the driver side, passenger side and rear windows from the LH front window control switch, or an individual window from the corresponding window control switch located in the door trim panel.
- includes a one-touch down feature for the LH front window.
- can proportionally lower the LH front window when the LH front window control switch is pressed to the 1st detent.
- will automatically lower the LH front window control switch when the LH front window control switch is momentarily pressed to the 2nd detent.
- will allow only the driver to operate the power windows when the LH front window control lockout switch is in the LOCK position (if equipped).


Rear Window Glass

The rear glass:

- is standard tempered safety glass.
- may be equipped with an optional manual sliding glass.
- may be equipped with an optional power sliding glass.
