PINPOINT TEST K: KEEP ALIVE POWER
NOTE: Refer to the Transmission Vehicle Harness Connector illustration within the Transmission Connector Layouts Transmission Connector Layouts procedure.
NOTE: Read and record all DTCs.
NOTE: Use the PID Chart for available diagnostic PIDs. Refer to Diagnostic Parameters Identification (PID) Chart Scan Tool Testing and Procedures.
-------------------------------------------------
K1 CHECK FOR DTCs
- Connect the scan tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Check for DTC P1633.
- Is DTC P1633 set?
Yes
GO to K2.
No
REFER to Charging System.
-------------------------------------------------
K2 CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage across the battery terminals. Record the measurement.
- Is the voltage greater than 10.5 volts?
Yes
GO to K3.
No
REFER to Charging System.
-------------------------------------------------
K3 CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM
- Start the engine.
- Bring the engine up to normal operating temperature and allow the engine to idle.
- Is the generator/check engine lamp off?
Yes
GO to K4.
No
REFER to Charging System.
-------------------------------------------------
K4 CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM
- Ignition ON.
- With the engine running, increase the engine speed to 2,000 rpm and observe the scan tool VPWR TCM PID.
- Is the system voltage between 13 volts and 15 volts?
Yes
GO to K5.
No
REFER to Charging System.
-------------------------------------------------
K5 CHECK CIRCUIT SBB37 (GY/RD) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Transmission Control Module (TCM) C1750.
- Measure the voltage between TCM C1750-60, circuit SBB37 (GY/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10.5 volts?
Yes
REPLACE the TCM. RECONNECT all components. CLEAR the DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REMOVE and INSPECT fuse 37 (10A). If fuse is blown, REPAIR circuit SBB37 (GY/RD) for a short to ground. If fuse is good, REPAIR circuit SBB37 (GY/RD) for an open. CLEAR the DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
