Driveshaft

Driveshaft

Driveshafts are the method to transfer movement from the transmission or transfer case to the front or rear axle. The driveshaft is composed of the U-joints, connecting shafts and the attaching yokes. Some vehicles are equipped with center support bearings. Center support bearings are prelubricated and sealed for the life of the bearing. This vehicle has the following types of driveshafts:

- The shaft that accommodates the change in length (slip) in the driveshaft system. The driveshaft is the shaft that attaches to the transmission or transfer case.
- All shafts that connect the transmission to the rear axle, except for the driveshaft are coupling shafts. Coupling shafts are attached to the chassis by center support bearings.
