Exterior Mirror Motor
Removal
NOTE: LH trailer tow mirror shown, RH trailer tow mirror similar.
NOTE: The power folding mirrors may need to be synchronized when the RH, LH or both power folding mirrors are partially folded in toward the door manually, and then folded inward using the power folding mirror control switch. Refer to Exterior Mirror Motor Synchronization - Power Folding Programming and Relearning.
All exterior mirrors
1. Remove the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Glass - Trailer Tow Exterior Mirror Glass - Trailer Tow.
2. Remove the exterior mirror spotter glass. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Glass - Spotter, Trailer Tow Exterior Mirror Glass - Spotter, Trailer Tow.
3. Remove the 5 exterior mirror cover screws.
Chrome/painted exterior mirrors
4. Remove the exterior mirror cover. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Cover Exterior Mirror Cover.
Base exterior mirrors
5. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the clip slots at the top of the mirror and release the clips.
All exterior mirrors
6. Separate the exterior mirror front cover and exterior mirror rear cover.
7. Remove the exterior mirror front cover from the exterior mirror.
- If equipped, remove the heated mirror electrical connector.
8. Remove the exterior mirror rear cover and position aside.
9. Lift upward and disconnect the exterior mirror motor electrical connectors.
10. NOTICE: Avoid damaging the jackpins and sealing boots while removing the mirror glass.
Using a trim panel removal tool or equivalent notched tool, carefully disengage the 2 jackpin balls from their sockets in the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly, leaving the jackpins attached to the exterior mirror motor.
11. Remove the exterior mirror motors.
- Insert 2 flat-blade screwdrivers and release the exterior mirror motor retaining tabs, while prying upward on the exterior mirror motor.
- Remove the exterior mirror motors from the exterior mirror.
Installation
All exterior mirrors
1. Position the tabs on the edges of the jackpin balls so they align with the key slots in the sockets on the back of the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly.
- Rotate the tab on the upper jackpin ball so that it is in the vertical position, pointing upward.
- Rotate the tab on the lower jackpin ball so that it is in the horizontal position, pointing away from the vehicle.
2. Install the exterior mirror motors into the exterior mirror.
3. Position the locating tabs, on the jackpin balls, with the slots in the sockets on the back of the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly.
NOTE: If the jackpins do not engage, they may not be aligned correctly.
4. Tilt the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly to the full upward position and then press the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly until the upper jackpin snaps into the socket on the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly.
5. Tilt the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly to the full outward position and then press on the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly until the lower jackpin snaps into the socket on the exterior mirror glass pivot assembly.
6. Connect the exterior mirror motor electrical connectors.
- Make sure that the exterior mirror motor electrical wiring harness is correctly routed.
7. Position the exterior mirror rear cover onto the exterior mirror.
8. Install the exterior mirror front cover onto the exterior mirror rear cover.
- If equipped, make sure that the heated mirror electrical wiring harness is correctly routed.

9. Install the exterior mirror cover. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Cover Exterior Mirror Cover.

10. Install and tighten the 5 exterior mirror cover screws.
11. Install the exterior mirror spotter glass. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Glass - Spotter, Trailer Tow Exterior Mirror Glass - Spotter, Trailer Tow.
12. Install the exterior mirror glass. For additional information, refer to Exterior Mirror Glass - Trailer Tow Exterior Mirror Glass - Trailer Tow.
