Exterior Mirror Glass - Spotter, Trailer Tow

Removal

NOTE: RH spotter mirror shown, LH spotter mirror similar.

1. Position the spotter mirror glass fully upward and outward.

2. NOTE: The backside of the spotter mirror glass backing plate is shown to help with the location of the spotter mirror glass removal slot.

NOTE: Non-heated spotter mirror glass shown, heated spotter mirror glass similar.

Insert a 5 mm (3/16 in) flat-blade screwdriver into the spotter mirror glass removal slot, located on the backside of the spotter mirror glass backing plate at the inboard side of the spotter mirror glass assembly.





3. WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Remove the spotter mirror glass in the following sequence:

1. Twist the screwdriver handle 90 degrees.

2. Lift outward on the upper inboard spotter mirror glass backing plate using light hand pressure.

3. Remove the spotter mirror glass from the spotter mirror glass pivot assembly.
- If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.

Installation

1. If equipped, connect the electrical connectors.

2. Position the spotter mirror glass assembly onto the spotter mirror glass pivot assembly.

3. WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTICE: The spotter mirror glass can break if pressure is not applied directly over the spotter mirror glass pivot assembly.

Place a hand against the back of the exterior rear view mirror housing and a hand flat against the center of the spotter mirror glass. Press the spotter mirror glass in place until it is fully seated.
