Power Steering Pump Pulley
NOTE: Vehicles with 6.4L engine shown, 5.4L and 6.8L engine similar.
Removal
Vehicles with 6.4L engine
1. Remove the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.
2. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
Vehicles with 5.4L and 6.8L engine
3. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner and remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
- For vehicles with A/C, rotate the tensioner clockwise.
- For vehicles without A/C, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise.
4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.
All vehicles
5. Using the Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover, remove the pulley.
- Inspect the pulley for paint marks in the web area near the hub. If there are 2 paint marks, discard the pulley. If there is no paint or one paint mark, use a paint pencil to mark the web area of the pulley near the hub.
Installation
All vehicles
1. NOTICE: Installation of a new power steering pump pulley is necessary after being removed and installed 2 times, or pulley and/or pump failure may occur.
Using the Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer, install the power steering pump pulley.
Vehicles with 5.4L and 6.8L engine
2. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner and install the accessory drive belt on the power steering pump pulley.
- For vehicles with A/C, rotate the tensioner clockwise.
- For vehicles without A/C, rotate the tensioner counterclockwise.
Vehicles with 6.4L engine
3. Install the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.
