Pinpoint Test F: The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally/Vertically - Driver
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 120, Power Seats for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
When pressed in 1 of 6 available directions, the seat control switch supplies battery voltage and ground to 1 of 3 seat track assembly motors through horizontal motor circuits CPS23 (GN/VT) and CPS28 (GN), front height motor circuits CPS24 (GY) and CPS25 (WH/VT) or rear height motor circuits CPS26 (YE/BU) and CPS27 (BU/BN). The seat control switch is normally closed to ground on all 6 of the seat motor circuits, so if one circuit becomes closed to voltage, the circuit on the opposite side of the same motor is still closed to ground. The seat motor will then operate, moving the seat track in the selected direction.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Seat control switch
- Seat track
PINPOINT TEST F: THE POWER SEAT DOES NOT MOVE HORIZONTALLY/VERTICALLY - DRIVER
-------------------------------------------------

- Will the seat move horizontally?
Yes
GO to F5.
No
GO to F2.
-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL MOTOR
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Motor C357.
- Measure the voltage between driver seat motor C357-1, circuit CPS28 (GN), harness side and C357-4, circuit CPS23 (GN/VT), harness side, while operating the seat control switch forward and rearward.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts when the seat control switch is toggled in both directions and 0 volt in the rest position?
Yes
INSTALL a new driver seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track - Front, Bucket Seat Seat Track - Front, Bucket Seat. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to F3.
-------------------------------------------------
F3 CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUIT CPS28 (GN) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C360.
- Measure the resistance between driver seat control switch C360-3, circuit CPS28 (GN), harness side and driver seat motor C357-1, circuit CPS28 (GN), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to F4.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
