Information and Entertainment System

Functional Components

The functional components of the audio system and their location are as follows:

- Audio Control Module (ACM)
- Satellite Digital Audio Receiver System (SDARS) module (if equipped), located under the LH side of the instrument panel (vehicles without navigation), or integral to the ACM (vehicles with navigation)
- Rear Entertainment Module (RETM) (if equipped)
- Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), located behind the RH side of the instrument panel (if equipped)
- Global Positioning System Module (GPSM), located behind the Instrument Cluster (IC) (if equipped)
- Speakers (see Audio Line-Up for locations)
- AM/FM antenna
- Satellite radio antenna (if equipped)
- Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna, part of the satellite radio antenna (if equipped)
- AM/FM antenna cable
- Satellite radio antenna cable (if equipped)
- Audio input jack, located at the front of the floor console
- Universal Serial Bus (USB) port and cable (if equipped)
- Microphone, part of the auto-dimming interior mirror (if equipped)

Audio Line-Up

The following audio systems are available:

- Base
- AM/FM stereo
- Two front door speakers

- Single CD
- AM/FM single CD ACM
- Four speakers

- Premium I
- AM/FM 6-CD changer ACM
- Four speakers

- Premium II
- AM/FM 6-CD changer ACM
- Eight speakers and a subwoofer (9 speakers total)

- Navigation
- Navigation ACM
- Rear video camera
- Built-in satellite radio receiver
- Only available with Premium II sound system

All audio systems (except base) include the following features:

- Speed sensitive volume
- Accessory delay
- MP3 capability
- Audio input jack

Speaker locations for particular vehicle configurations are:

- Regular cab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the trim panel
- Premium II: 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear 2-way speakers located in the trim panel, subwoofer (located on the passenger side behind the front seat)

- SuperCab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the rear mini-doors
- Premium II: 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear 2-way speakers located in the rear mini-doors, subwoofer (located on the driver side under the rear seat)

- Crew Cab
- Single CD: 2 front door speakers, 2 rear speakers located in the rear doors
- Premium II: 2 front door speakers, 2 front tweeters, 2 rear speakers located in the rear doors, 2 rear tweeters, subwoofer (located on the passenger side behind the rear seat)

Antenna

The antenna cable connects the ACM to the antenna. The antenna system consists of the antenna and antenna cable.

Audio Input Jack

The audio input jack is used to connect a portable MP3 device to the vehicle. When connected, the audio files from the MP3 player can be broadcast through the vehicle speakers.

Satellite Audio System

The satellite audio system provides satellite-broadcast audio. For vehicles with satellite radio and navigation, a combination satellite radio/GPS antenna is utilized. The satellite audio system consists of the following components:

- SDARS module (located under the LH side of the instrument panel) (vehicles without navigation)
- ACM with built-in satellite radio receiver (vehicles with navigation)
- Satellite radio antenna
- Satellite radio antenna cable

Navigation System

The navigation system consists of the following:

- Navigation ACM
- GPS antenna (part of the combination satellite radio/GPS antenna)
- Microphone

The ACM controls the operation of the navigation system and the audio system. The system uses a GPS antenna, a vehicle speed input, and other sensor information to accurately establish the vehicle position.

Family Entertainment System

The family entertainment system is only available on Crew Cab vehicles not equipped with a moonroof. The family entertainment system includes the following:

- RETM
- A/V ports for connecting a gaming system
- Two wireless headphones
- A wireless remote control

SYNC System

The SYNC system consists of the following:

- APIM
- SYNC-specific steering wheel controls
- Microphone
- USB cable and port
- Audio input jack

SYNC is a hands-free communications and entertainment system that allows the following interactions:

- Send and receive phone calls via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Send and receive text messages via a Bluetooth-enabled phone
- Connect media devices (such as an iPod(R) or USB flash device) in order to play audio files
- Play media files via a Bluetooth-enabled audio device
- Produce vehicle health reports
- Initiate an emergency call (eCall) when the air bags deploy

Not all features are available with every phone.
