Pinpoint Test V: The Air Bag Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) status from the Restraints Control Module (RCM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If an SRS concern is detected, the RCM sets a DTC and sends a message to the IC to turn on the air bag warning indicator. If the SRS status message is missing or is deemed invalid for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0151 and defaults the air bag warning indicator on.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- RCM
- IC
