Principles of Operation

NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).

The dimmable illumination is provided when the headlamp switch is in the PARKING LAMPS or HEADLAMPS ON position. When the parking lamps are on, the instrument panel dimmer switch provides a variable voltage to the Instrument Cluster (IC), audio unit, climate control assembly, Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) mode switch, cruise control switches and headlamp switch.

The non-dimmable or fixed illumination is provided to the door lock control switches when the key is in the RUN or ACC position.
