Pinpoint Test AJ: DTC B1363

Normal Operation
- DTC B1363 (Ignition Start Circuit Failure) - sets when the Instrument Cluster (IC) senses voltage applied to the RUN/START input for more than 15 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

AJ1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST


- Retrieve the recorded DTCs from the IC self-test.
- Is DTC B1363 retrieved?

Yes
CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B1363 is retrieved again, GO to AJ2.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by the ignition switch left too long in the start position.

AJ2 MONITOR THE SJB IGNITION SWITCH POSITION PIDs


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB DataLogger.
- Select and monitor the SJB ignition switch PID (IGN_SW) while moving the ignition switch from run to start.
- Do the PID values match the ignition switch positions?

Yes
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REFER to Steering Column to diagnose the ignition switch inputs to the SJB.
