Pinpoint Test D: No Power in START

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 13, Power Distribution/SJB for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The ignition switch START circuit provides fused battery voltage along circuits CDC35 (BU/WH) and CDC34 (WH/OG) to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) when the key is in the START position.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Ignition switch
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST D: NO POWER IN START

NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.

-------------------------------------------------
D1 CHECK THE STARTER OPERATION

- Start the engine.
- Does the starter motor engage?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch Ignition Switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D2 CHECK CIRCUITS CDC35 (BU/WH) AND CDC34 (WH/OG) FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Measure the resistance between SJB C2280B, harness side and ignition switch C250, harness side using the following chart:

- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
REPAIR the affected circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to D3.

-------------------------------------------------
D3 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH

- Carry out the ignition switch component test.

- Is the ignition switch OK ?

Yes
VERIFY all SJB fuses are OK. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. If OK, INSTALL a new SJB, REFER to Body Control Systems. Diagrams By Number

No
INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch Ignition Switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
