Body - Window Chatters/Shudders When Operated

WINDOW CHATTER/SHUDDER
FORD:
2010-2011 Ranger
This article supersedes TSB 11-06-19 to update the Parts List.
ISSUE
Some 2010-2011 Ranger vehicles may experience window chatter/shudder when the window travels up or down.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the exterior mirror. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-09.
2. Remove the door weather shield.
3. Remove the front door beltline inner and outer weatherstrips.
4. Remove the door glass top run bolt. (Figure 1) (Photo of door glass top run bolt location)
5. Lower glass to full down position.
6. Remove door glass top run from the door window opening.
7. Lift and rotate door glass top run 90 degrees to remove the run bracket from the top opening of the door.
8. Insert new door glass top run bracket into door and align the run to the flange at the front of the window opening but do not seat.
9. Loosely install the door glass top run bolt.
10. Seat the corner of the door glass top run to the top of the mirror sail flange.
11. Tighten the door glass top run bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb-in).
12. Seat the remainder of the door glass top run to the window opening flange.
NOTE
WHEN SEATING THE DOOR GLASS TOP RUN, LEAVE RUN APPROXIMATELY 25 MM (1") OFF THE FLANGE IN THE 3 LOCATIONS AS SHOWN UNTIL THE CORNERS AND LOWER B-PILLAR END ARE SEATED. THIS HELPS PREVENT POOR FIT AND GAPS AT CORNERS. (FIGURE 2)
13. Cut a 10 mm (3/8") length of 3/8" ID vacuum hose and insert into channel at bottom of center door glass run. (Figure 3)
14. Install the front door beltline inner and outer weatherstrips.
15. Install the door weather shield.
16. Install the exterior mirror. Refer to WSM Section 501-09.
