Ford Work Solutions(TM)
Available Equipment
The following packages are available with Ford Work Solutions(TM):
- In-dash computer only
- In-dash computer with Tool Link(TM)
- Crew Chief
In-Dash Computer
The in-dash computer is capable of the following functions:
- AM/FM radio reception
- CD (audio or MP3) playback
- Bluetooth connectivity for both media devices and mobile phones
- Peripheral device (keyboard, mouse, printer) connectivity through the built-in Universal Serial Bus (USB) device or Bluetooth
- Navigation
- Voice recognition for hands-free functioning
- Tool Link(TM) interaction (if equipped)
A modem-antenna is utilized to receive the Global Positioning System (GPS) signal for the navigation feature and for wireless connectivity. The microphone for the voice recognition feature is integral to the in-dash computer.
When using Bluetooth, not all features are available with every phone. Additionally, not all Bluetooth devices are compatible with the Ford Work Solutions(TM) system.
Tool Link
The Tool Link(TM) system consists of the following:
- In-dash computer
- Tool Link(TM) reader (located in the LH side of the cargo area behind the driver seat)
- Three Tool Link(TM) antennas (located throughout the cargo area)
- Tool ID tags (one tag located on each tool at the discretion of the customer)
The Tool Link(TM) antenna module uses the Tool Link(TM) antennas to broadcast a locator signal throughout the vehicle cargo area. The tool ID tags are read by the antennas to identify which tools are currently in the vehicle cargo area. This information is sent to the in-dash computer, where the user can inventory the available tools.
Crew Chief
The Crew Chief package consists of the following:
- Telematics module (located in the instrument panel above the engine cover)
- Modem-antenna (located in the top-center of the instrument panel)
The Crew Chief system uses a telematics module to track the vehicle location, collect in-vehicle information (such as throttle position, idle time, braking data), and package this information for transmission to a remote location. The data can then be viewed by a remote computer at a location such as a main office. The telematics module transmits and receives data from the remote location through the modem-antenna.
