Attachment III - Technical Information

OVERVIEW

Some of the affected vehicles may not conform to the requirements specified by Federal Motor Vehicle

Safety Standard (FMVSS) No.207 S4.2 Seating Systems. Dealers are to inspect the Power Driver Seat Track assembly lot number, and if necessary, replace the seat track assembly.

INSPECTION

1. Open driver's front door.

2. Using the seat control switch, position the driver's front seat fully rearward and fully upward.

3. Locate the lot label on the top of the seat track motor housing, beneath the seat cushion. Using an inspection mirror, locate and record the seat track motor 4-digit lot number. See Figure 1.





4. Determine if the seat track motor has a suspect lot number. See Figure 2.

5. If the seat track motor does not have a suspect lot number, no further action is required and the vehicle can be released to the customer.

6. If the seat track motor has a suspect lot number, seat track replacement is necessary. Proceed to Service Procedure step 1.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:
Discard the seat track to cushion frame and the seat track to pedestal retainers. New retainers listed in Attachment II should be used for reassembly.

1. Replace the driver's front seat track. For additional information, refer to WSM Section 501-10.
