Brake Disc
Removal
1. Remove the brake caliper anchor plate. For additional information, refer to Brake Caliper Anchor Plate Brake Caliper Anchor Plate.
2. Remove the brake disc and hub in the following sequence:
1. Remove the hub grease cap.
2. Remove the cotter pin.
3. Remove the nut retainer.
4. Remove the spindle nut.
5. Remove the outer wheel bearing retainer washer.
6. Remove the outer wheel bearing.
7. Remove the brake disc and hub.
3. Remove the wheel hub grease seal and inner wheel bearing in the following sequence:
1. Remove the wheel hub grease seal.
2. Remove the inner wheel bearing.
4. Inspect the brake disc and resurface or install new as necessary. For additional information, refer to the Diagnosis and Testing portion of Brake System - General Information Brake System Inspection.
Installation
1. Using specified brake parts cleaner, thoroughly clean and inspect the wheel bearings and the brake disc and hub.
2. Lubricate the wheel bearings with specified grease.
3. Install a new wheel hub grease seal in the following sequence:
1. Install the inner wheel bearing.
2. Install a new wheel hub grease seal.
4. Install the brake disc and hub in the following sequence:
1. Position the brake disc and hub.
2. Install the outer wheel bearing.
3. Install the outer wheel bearing retainer washer.
4. Install the spindle nut.
5. While rotating the brake disc and hub, tighten the spindle nut.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
6. Loosen the spindle nut 2 turns.
7. Tighten the spindle nut while rotating the brake disc and hub.
- Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
8. Loosen the spindle nut 175 degrees.
9. Tighten the spindle nut while rotating the brake disc and hub.
- Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
10. Install the components in the following sequence:
1. Install the nut retainer.
2. Install the cotter pin.
3. Install the hub grease cap.
