Extension Housing Gasket
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.
2. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Removal and Replacement.
3. Disconnect the Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) harness connectors. Remove the harness bracket.
4. Remove the 2 transmission insulator retainer nuts.
5. Install a suitable high lift transmission jack.
6. Raise the transmission to gain access to the transmission insulator and retainer bolts, remove the bolts, insulator and retainer.
7. Remove the extension housing and gasket.
1. Remove the 2 extension housing stud bolts and 4 extension housing bolts.
2. Remove the extension housing and gasket.
Installation
1. Install the extension housing and gasket.
1. Install the extension housing and gasket.
2. Install the 2 extension housing stud bolts and 4 extension housing bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
2. Install the transmission insulator and retainer and install the bolts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
3. Lower the transmission onto the crossmember and tighten the transmission insulator and retainer nuts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
4. Connect the CMS harness connectors. Install the harness bracket.
5. Install the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Driveshaft Removal and Replacement.
6. Check the transmission fluid level, add transmission fluid as necessary.
- Verify for correct operation.
- Check for leaks.
