Principles of Operation

When the transmission is in REVERSE (R), the PCM (all except 4.6L engine) or the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor (4.6L engine) provides a ground for the reversing lamps relay coil. When the relay is energized, voltage is supplied to the reversing lamps (wagon) or the body builder connector (cutaway or stripped chassis vehicles).
