Fuel Tank - Midship

Removal and Installation

WARNING: When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage. Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING: Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel tubes or fuel system components, relieve the fuel system pressure to prevent accidental spraying of fuel. Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure, even when the engine is not running. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.

2. Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

4. Drain the fuel tank. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Procedures.

5. If connected, disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe hose.

6. Position a suitable jack under the fuel tank.

7. Remove the nut and the front fuel tank support strap.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

8. Remove the nut and the rear fuel tank support strap.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

9. Partially lower the fuel tank.

10. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe vent hose-to-fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Service and Repair.

11. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube-to-Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister assembly quick connect coupling . For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Service and Repair.

12. Remove the 3 nuts and the FP module cover.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

13. Disconnect the FP module and Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor electrical connectors.

14. Disconnect the fuel supply tube-to-FP module quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Service and Repair.

15. Lower the fuel tank.

16. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
