Fuel Pressure Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair




Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor - 3.5L GTDI













Removal

WARNING: Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING: Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel tubes or fuel system components, relieve the fuel system pressure to prevent accidental spraying of fuel. Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure, even when the engine is not running. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. Release the fuel system pressure.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

3. Remove the intake manifold.

4. Disconnect the Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor electrical connector.

5. NOTICE: During repair procedure, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning or removing components that enters the fuel supply passages may cause engine failure.
NOTE: Use compressed air to remove any foreign material from around the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) sensor area before removal.
Remove and discard the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) sensor.


Installation

1. Lubricate the tip and thread area of the new FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) sensor with clean engine oil prior to installation.





2. NOTICE: During repair procedure, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning or removing components that enters the fuel supply passages may cause engine failure.
Install the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) sensor.
- To install, tighten to 42 Nm (31 lb-ft).


3. Connect the FRP (Fuel Rail Pressure) sensor electrical connector.

4. Install the intake manifold.

5. Connect the battery ground cable.
