(67-75 MPH)

ISSUE
Some 2013 F-150 4X2 vehicles equipped with a
3.5L engine and built on or before 12/13/2012 may
exhibit a late 5-6 upshift of 107-120 K/mh (67-75
MPH).

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure to correct the concern.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Check the vehicle build date. Is the vehicle build date on or before 12/13/2012?

a. Yes - vehicle build date is on or before 12/13/2012, proceed to Step 2.

b. No - vehicle build date is after 12/13/2012 this article does not apply. Follow normal Workshop Manual diagnostic procedures.

2. Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 82.03 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2012.11 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

PLEASE ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
