Emissions Recall 93E36 - Emissions Control System Modifications on Certain 1987-Model California 1.9L Engine Equipped Escort, Lynx and EXP Cars.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

1987-model California Escort, Lynx and EXP cars equipped with 1.9L engines having calibration code 7-07E-R10.

REASONS FOR RECALL

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Ford have conducted in-use tests on some of the affected cars and have determined that they may be releasing exhaust emissions which exceed California standards.

SERVICE ACTION

Cars returned for service will have exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems modified, engine ignition timing set and attachment of Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) and Authorized Modifications labels at no-charge to owners.
