Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Remove air distribution plenum as follows:
a. Remove instrument panel as outlined previously.
b. Working from engine compartment, disconnect hoses from heater core.
c. Disconnect wiring from blower motor and blower motor resistor.
d. Disengage wiring harness and antenna lead from bracket on front of plenum.
e. Loosen screw securing connector duct to plenum, then remove upper and lower plenum to cowl panel attaching nuts.
f. Disengage plenum from defroster ducts, then pull outward and remove plenum from vehicle.
2. Disconnect link connecting the two defroster doors, then remove screws and clips securing plenum halves together.
3. Separate plenum halves and remove heater core.
4. Remove tube insert from bottom of heater core.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
