Cruise Control Brush Assembly: Service and Repair

1. Remove center horn pad by inserting a punch through holes in back of steering wheel.
2. Remove steering wheel attaching bolt. Discard the bolt.
3. Using steering wheel puller, separate steering wheel from shaft.
4. Remove tilt lever from steering column, if equipped.
5. Remove steering column lower trim shroud.
6. Separate speed control brush wire harness at connector, Fig. 31, then remove wire retainers from steering column.
7. Remove brush assembly retaining screw, then brush assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque steering wheel retaining nut to 23-33 ft. lbs.
