On turbocharged models, the crankshaft position sensor, located within the distributor, Fig. 6, detects crankshaft angle at equally spaced intervals. A signal is generated and supplied to the electronic control assembly which is used to determine engine speed (RPM). The signal from the crankshaft position sensor affects, air/fuel ratio, injector timing, engine idle speed, EGR flow, purge gas flow, fuel pressure, turbo boost pressure and ignition timing.
