Heater Core: Service and Repair
LESS A/C
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core tubes. Cap tubes to prevent leakage of coolant.
3. Remove glove compartment door, liner and lower reinforcement.
4. Move temperature control lever to WARM.
5. Remove the four screws attaching heater core cover to heater assembly, then remove the cover.
6. Working from engine compartment, loosen the two nuts attaching heater case assembly to dash panel.
7. Push heater core tubes toward the passenger compartment to loosen heater core from assembly. Working from passenger compartment, pull heater core from heater assembly and remove heater core through glove compartment opening.
8. Reverse procedure to install.

Fig. 28 Heater core removal:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, drain cooling system and disconnect heater hoses from heater core.
2. Working from inside vehicle, remove screws retaining floor duct to plenum. Remove screws retaining floor duct to, I/P then remove floor duct.
3. Remove four screws attaching heater core cover to heater case, then remove heater core cover and heater core from plenum, Fig. 28.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
