Less Variable Assist

RACK PRELOAD




1. Removed rack from vehicle and mount in holding fixture tool No. T57L-500-B, or equivalent.
2. Measure pinion torque using an inch lb. torque wrench and pinion adapter tool No. T88C-3504-BH or equivalent. Torque should be 88.5-123.9 inch lbs.
3. In pinion torque is not within specifications, loosen pinion locknut.
4. Using torque gauge tool No. T88C-3504-AH or equivalent, torque adjust cover to 7.2 ft. lbs. then loosen it.
5. Torque adjust cover again to 3.6 ft. lbs. then loosen the adjusting cover 45°.
6. Using yoke locknut wrench tool No. T88C-3504-KH or equivalent, then tighten to specifications.
