Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair


SUCTION ACCUMULATOR/DRIER

Removal
1. Discharge the A/C system system into an approved recovery device.
2. Remove the A/C tube lock coupling clips from the liquid line.
3. Disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube at the evaporator.
4. Remove the wire harness adjacent to the suction accumulator/drier from the locator bracket. Position the wire harness out of the way.
5. Disconnect the A/C compressor suction manifold and tube from the suction accumulator/drier. Use an appropriate spring lock coupling tool.





6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C cyclic switch.





7. Loosen the mounting strap bolt.

NOTE: The spring lock coupling tool should be placed around the accumulator tube with the spring in the up position.

8. Disconnect the suction accumulator/drier from the evaporator outlet tube. Use an appropriate spring lock coupling tool.





9. Remove the suction accumulator/drier.

Installation
1. Use new 0-rings lubricated with clean refrigerant oil and connect the suction accumulator/drier to the evaporator outlet tube.
2. Install the wire harness to the locator bracket.
3. Tighten the mounting strap bolt.
4. Use new 0-rings lubricated with clean refrigerant oil and connect the A/C compressor suction manifold and tube to the suction accumulator/drier.
5. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C cyclic switch.
6. Leak test, evacuate, and charge the A/C system.
