NGS INFORMATION - NGS TESTER DISPLAYS FALSE HIGH SPARK ADVANCE READINGS - BI-FUEL VEHICLES ONLY - SERVICE TIP

ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit false high spark advance readings when using a New Generation Star (NGS) Tester. On some bi-fuel vehicles, when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is operating with less spark advance than base timing, the NGS Tester will display a very large number.

ACTION
When the NGS, using the N1-125/N1-124 card/cable (Rotunda 164-R0905/164-R0906 card/cable), displays a spark advance of more than 328 degrees, the technician must subtract 655 from the number displayed to calculate the spark retard value.
