Removal and Installation






CAUTION: Do not remove steering wheel and driver side air bag
module as an assembly unless the column is locked or the steering column gear input shaft coupling is secured to keep it from turning. This will avoid damage to the air bag sliding contact assembly.

1. Park vehicle with wheels in straight ahead position.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove steering column opening finish panel.
4. Remove upper and lower steering column shrouds.
5. Remove pinch bolt at lower steering column shaft and disengage shaft from steering gear.
6. Disconnect wiring harness connectors from steering column switches.
7. Remove four bolts retaining steering column to instrument panel reinforcement.
8. Lower the steering column and slide toward LH front seat to remove from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
