Pinpoint Test L - Heated Seat InoperativeL1 - Test Heater Elements
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of heater elements at heater element pigtail.
Is resistance of element 2.5 - 10 ohms?
YES GO to L2.
NO REMOVE trim cover and INSPECT for connectors that are not properly mated before replacing trim covers. If connectors are properly seated, REPLACE trim covers that fail Resistance Test. RETEST system.
L2 - Test Heat Sensors For Short Circuit
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of heat sensors at heater element pigtail.
Is resistance of element reading SHORT CIRCUIT (0 ohms)?
YES REPLACE trim covers that measure 0 ohms. RETEST system.
NO GO to L3.
L3 - Test Heat Sensor For Open Circuit
Is resistance of element reading OPEN CIRCUIT (Resistance greater than 10K ohms)?
YES REPLACE trim covers that measure more than 10k ohms. RETEST system.
NO GO to L4.
L4 - Test Heated Seat Switch Position
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance of the heated seat switch at module connector.
With the switch in the 1 position, is the resistance between Pin 4 and Pin 3 reading 2.0 to 2.75 K ohms?
YES GO to L5.
NO REPLACE switch. RETEST system.
L5 - Test Heated Seat Switch Position 2
With the switch in the 2 position, is the resistance between pin 4 and pin 3 reading 0.9 to 1.3 K ohms?
YES GO to L6.
NO REPLACE switch. RETEST system.
L6 Test Heated Seat Switch Position 3
With the switch in the 3 position, is the resistance between pin 4 and pin 3 reading 500 to 700 ohms?
YES GO to L7.
NO REPLACE switch. RETEST system.
L7 - Test Heated Seat Switch Position 4
With the switch in the 4 position, is the resistance between pin 4 and pin 3 reading 300 to 450 ohms?
YES GO to L8.
NO REPLACE switch. RETEST system.
L8 - Test Heated Seat Switch Position 5
With the switch in the 5 position, is the resistance between pin 4 and pin 3 reading 150 to 300 ohms?
YES GO to L9.
NO REPLACE switch. RETEST system.
L9 - Test Heated Seat Module
With the ignition switch in the RUN position and the heated seat switch in the ON position, verify B+ at module connector pin 7.
Is voltage reading B+?
YES GO to L10.
NO SERVICE circuit 1048 (LB/W). RETEST system.
L1O - Measure ground RESISTANCE
Using an ohmmeter, check ground circuit at module connector pin 14.
Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES GO to L11.
NO SERVICE (BK). RETEST system
L11 - Replace Heated Seat Module
Does heated seat function properly?
YES GO to L1 and REPEAT test for the other heated seat switch and module.
NO SERVICE heated seat circuitry for shorts and open circuits.
