CB - Turn Signal Lamps/Hazard Flasher Lamps Inoperative
Pinpoint Test CB: Turn Signal Lamps/Hazard Flasher Lamps InoperativeNOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide a procedure to perform the following pinpoint test without the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) tester 007-00500 or equivalent.
CB1 - Test Turn Signals
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Test both left and right turn signals.
Do turn signals flash at a normal rate?
YES System operating normally.
NO GO to CB2.
CB2 - Test Flasher Operation
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Test both left and right turn signals.
Does one (or both) turn signals flash at a fast rate?
YES REPLACE damaged bulbs. If condition still exists, SERVICE circuit 9 (LG/O), 5 (O/LB), 3 (LG/W), 2 (W/LB) from multi-function switch to bulb and ground socket.
NO GO to CB3.
CB3 - Test Individual Flashers
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Test both left and right turn signals.
Does only one side flash?
YES SERVICE multi-function switch.
NO GO to CB4.
CB4 - Test Flashers
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Test both left and right turn signals.
Do both sides fail to flash?
YES CHECK fuse 1 (15A) Town Car or fuse 5 (15A) Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis. Fuse should have power in RUN. If fuse is good, GO to CB6.
NO GO to CB5.
CB5 - Test Flasher Power
- Connect Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector
- With ignition switch in RUN, read PID FLSHPWR.
Does PID indicate flasher power?
YES GO to CB4.
NO GO to CB3.
CB6 - Test Hazard Power-Switch On
- Turn hazard switch ON.
- Use Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to read PID FLSHPWR.
Does PID indicate flasher power?
YES SERVICE circuit 385 (W/R) from multi-function switch to lighting control module. GO to CB7.
NO SERVICE open in circuit 298 (P/O) from fuse junction panel to multi-function switch or multi-function switch. RETEST system.
CB7 - Test Flasher Output
- Remove lighting control module connector C3.
- Using a jumper wire, short pin C3-13 to pin C3-15.
- Turn hazard switch on.
Are any of the turn signal bulbs illuminated?
YES REPLACE lighting control module. RETEST system.
NO GO to CB8.
CB8 - Isolate Lighting Control Module
- Remove lighting control module connector C3.
- Turn on hazard flashers.
Do any of the bulbs illuminate?
YES SERVICE Circuit 44 (LB) from lighting control module to multi-function switch for short to B+. RETEST system.
NO GO to CB9.
CB9 - Test Hazard Flashers
- Turn hazard flashers on.
Do hazard flashers work?
YES System operating normally.
NO CHECK fuse 16 (15A) Town Car or fuse 1 (15A) Crown Grand Marquis. If fuse is good, GO to CB10.
CB1O - Test PID Power
- Connect Rotunda New Generation Star Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector.
- With hazard switch on, read PID FLSHPWR.
Does PID indicate flasher power?
YES GO to CB12.
NO Go to CB11.
CB11 - Test Hazard Power-Switch Off
- Turn hazard switch off.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN.
- Read PID FLSHPWR.
Does PID indicate flasher power?
YES SERVICE Circuit 10 (LG/R) from fuse junction panel to multi-function switch. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE Circuit 385 (W/R) from multi-function switch to lighting control module. RETEST system.
CB12 - Bypass Lighting Control Module
- Remove lighting control module connectors.
- Using a jumper wire, short pin C3-13 to pin C1-11.
- Turn hazard switch on.
Are any of the turn signal bulbs illuminated?
YES REPLACE lighting control module. RETEST system.
NO SERVICE Circuit 44 (LB) from lighting control module to multi-function switch. RETEST system.
