Pre-Service Procedures
WARNINGThe fuel system is normally pressurized to 276 kPa (40 psi). Use care when servicing the fuel system or possible injury may occur.
NOTE: The fuel charging system consists of the throttle body and the upper and lower intake manifolds. Prior to service or removal of the fuel charging system, the following steps must be taken.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
NOTE: When battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur until the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
2. Remove the fuel tank filler cap at fuel tank and release pressure.
Fuel Pressure Relief
NOTE: A fuel pressure relief valve on the fuel injection supply manifold is provided for this procedure.
1. Install a Multiport Fuel Pressure Gauge to the fuel pressure relief valve on the fuel injection supply manifold.
2. Release pressure from the fuel system.
