Keyless Entry: Service and Repair

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
Each electronic door lock control system operates on its own Transmitter Identification Code (TIC). If additional keyless entry remote transmitters are utilized, each new TIC needs to be programmed into the electronic door lock control processor.

When programming a new TIC into the electronic door lock control processor, the TIC of the existing keyless entry remote transmitter is erased. Therefore, both the new and the existing TIC must be programmed into the electronic door lock control processor at the same time. If the programming mode is entered and the keyless entry remote transmitters are not programmed at the same time, they will not operate with the system.

The electronic door lock control processor will accept up to four keyless entry remote transmitters. If the programming of a fifth keyless entry remote transmitter is attempted, the electronic door lock control processor will ignore it.

Each TIC can be programmed into the electronic door lock control processor by performing this procedure:

1. Remove the RH luggage compartment side cover.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON or ACC position.







3. Using a jumper wire, connect the two program inputs together momentarily. After connecting the two program inputs, the electronic door lock control processor will lock and unlock the front doors to indicate it is ready to accept a new TIC.

NOTE: Do not disconnect any electrical connectors on the electronic door lock control processor. The illustration shows the program connector and can be identified by the wire colors, and is not plugged into any harness or component.

4. Press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each keyless entry remote transmitter to store the TIC into the electronic door lock control processor memory.

To indicate it has accepted a new TIC, the electronic door lock control processor will lock and unlock the front doors after each transmitter is programmed.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

To indicate it has stored the new TIC into its memory, the electronic door lock control processor will lock and unlock the front doors again when the key is turned OFF.

6. Install the RH luggage compartment side cover.
