QT8 Perform Continuous Test
- Hookup the VOM and jumper wire, or the NGS tester 007-00500, as in Test Step QT5 or QT6.
- Key ON.
NOTE: With key ON, any coded fault recreated during the continuous test will illuminate the indicator constantly. If the key is turned OFF, then back ON without clearing codes from memory, the indicator will flash codes along with the VOM or NGS tester, indicating a past or intermittent fault.
- Tap, move and wiggle the suspected sensor and/or harness working with short sections from the sensor to instrument panel and to anti-lock brake control module. Drive the vehicle, if necessary.
- Does the indicator illuminate continuously?
YES -- Record VOM or NGS tester diagnostic trouble codes and refer to code identification chart. Service only the codes recreated in this test step. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index
NO -- Normal operation. If intermittent fault cannot be recreated, turn key OFF. Disconnect suspect sensor and anti-lock brake control module from harness very carefully. Visually inspect all terminals for corrosion, bad crimps, improperly seated terminals, etc. Reconnect harness connectors and reattempt this test.
