Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running.
1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Fuel Pressure Release
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring.
WARNING: Plug the fuel lines once removed from the fuel injection supply manifold to prevent fuel leakage.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines.
5. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
6. Remove the fuel supply tube bracket bolt.
Supply Manifold:
7. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold bolts, spacers, insulators and the fuel injection supply manifold with the fuel injectors and the fuel pressure regulator attached.
8. Remove the fuel injectors and the insulators from the fuel injection supply manifold.
Supply Manifold:
9. Remove the 0-ring from the fuel injector.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Apply a small amount of engine oil to the 0-ring during installation.
Injector:
1. Position the insulators and new 0-ring onto the fuel injector.
2. Position the insulator and fuel injector into the intake manifold.
3. Position the insulators and the fuel injection supply manifold on the injectors.
4. Install the fuel injection supply manifold bolts. Tighten to 19-25 Nm (14-18 lb ft).
5. Connect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line.
6. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel injection supply manifold.
7. Install the fuel supply tube bracket. Tighten the bolt to 8-11 Nm (71-97 lb in).
8. Connect the fuel charging wiring.
9. Connect the battery ground cable.
