Diagnosing Customer Concerns With Hard Fault Codes

Most air bag system diagnostic procedures will require the use of the Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming procedures. These procedures allow the removal of the air bag modules from the vehicle, removing the risk of air bag module deployment while the diagnostics are performed.

Two of the Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00009 or equivalent are required to perform diagnosis and testing of the air bag system. The air bag simulator is a one ohm resistor that must be used to simulate an air bag connection in the system as specified in the deactivation procedure. It is not acceptable to jump the air bag connections with a zero ohm jumper wire. If a zero ohm jumper wire is used, a system fault may be displayed according to the priority scheme.
