Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
2. Carefully pry the CKP sensor wire from the upper retainer.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the CKP sensor bolt.
5. Carefully pull the CKP sensor wire from the lower retainer and remove the sensor.
Measuring Air Gap:
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Tighten the CKP sensor bolt to 8-11 Nm (71-97 lb in). Using a feeler gauge, measure the air gap between the crankshaft pulley and the CKP sensor. The air gap must be approximately 0.5-1.5 mm (0.020-0.059 in).
