Brushes Test

NOTE: Alternator must be disassembled to inspect brushes.

1. Inspect bushes for wear.
2. If brushes are worn down to wear line, replace.
3. Using a suitable spring pressure gauge, push each brush into its holder until tip of brush projects 0.079 inch out of its holder.
4. Check brush pressure, if pressure is not 5.6-15.5 oz, replace brush spring.
