This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Ford Motor Company has determined that certain 1996 model year Probe vehicles fail to conform with certain labeling requirements specified in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection".

Non Compliance
For these vehicles, Standard No. 208 specifies that a label which includes the statement, "Do not install rearward facing child seats in any front seating position;" shall be installed on each sunvisor. This statement may not have been included on the label that was affixed on the driver's sunvisor.

Repair
Enclosed with this letter is a replacement driver sunvisor label that contains the required caution statements. Also enclosed are instructions for checking to determine whether replacement of your vehicle's driver sunvisor label is necessary, and instructions for affixing the label if replacement is appropriate. PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. If you prefer, at no charge to you, your dealer will affix the label for you.

Label Installation
Pull the driver side sunvisor down so caution label is visible. Read the label. If the statement "Do not install rearward facing child seats in any front passenger seat position" is not on the visor label, please install the enclosed label over the existing label on the visor as follows:

1. Wipe label on visor with clean, dry cloth.

2. Peel backing from enclosed label and place label directly over visor label.

3. Attach label at one end and press, removing air bubbles and smoothing label.

4. Discard backing.

How Long Will It Take?
If you elect to have your dealer affix the label, the time needed for this service is less than one half hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period.

Call Your Dealer
If you prefer that your dealer affix the label, ask for a service date and take this letter and label with you.

If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.

Changed Address or Sold The Probe?
Please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it to us if you have changed your address or sold the Probe.
