Water Bypass Tube - 3.0L (4V) Engine






Removal and Installation

1. Drain engine cooling system.
2. Remove engine air cleaner (ACL) and air cleaner outlet tube. Refer to Intake Air System.
3. Remove radiator and heater hose from water bypass tube.
4. Remove oil separator tube from water bypass tube and oil separator.
5. Disconnect electrical connector from water temperature indicator sender unit.
6. Remove water bypass tube retaining bolt and stud bolt from RH cylinder head.
7. Carefully remove water bypass tube from cylinder heads and disconnect electrical connector from engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor).
8. Inspect water bypass tube O-rings for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
9. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Lubricate water bypass tube O-rings with Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA or -B (in Canada, Motorcraft CXC-8-B) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A prior to installation of water bypass tube. Tighten retainers to 8-12 Nm (71-106 lb-in). Fill cooling system as outlined.
