Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. With engine running in NEUTRAL or PARK position, block drive wheels, then release parking brake.
2. Install brake pedal effort gauge 021-00001, or equivalent, and inspect pedal travel. With 25 lb of pressure applied to pedal, travel should not exceed three inches.
3. If pedal travel exceeds specification, make several reverse stops with forward stop before each.
4. If travel still exceeds specification, remove drums and inspect brake adjusters. Hydraulic system also may require brake bleeding.
