Engine: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain engine coolant.
2. Mark position of hood hinges and remove hood.
3. Remove left cowl vent screen and wiper module.
4. Disconnect alternator to voltage regulator wiring harness.
5. Remove radiator upper sight shield, release belt tension and remove belts.
6. Remove air cleaner to throttle body tube assembly, then disconnect cooling fan and motor assembly connector.
7. Remove fan shroud, fan assembly and upper radiator hose.
8. Disconnect automatic transmission oil cooler tubes from radiator, then disconnect heater hoses.
9. Disconnect lower radiator hose at water pump, then remove radiator retaining bolts and radiator assembly.
10. Disconnect power steering pump and bracket and position aside.
11. Discharge A/C system.
12. Disconnect A/C compressor clutch electrical connector and compressor lines. Cap or plug open A/C lines.
13. Remove A/C compressor retaining bolts, then the compressor.
14. Remove radiator coolant recovery reservoir.
15. Remove wiring shield, then the accelerator cable mounting bracket and position aside.
16. Release fuel system pressure, then disconnect fuel inlet and return hose.
17. Disconnect powertrain control module electrical connector, engine feed harnesses, and vacuum lines.
18. Disconnect ground wire assembly and coil wire.
19. Disconnect canister purge line.
20. Disconnect one end of throttle control valve cable.
21. Raise vehicle on hoist, then drain oil and remove oil filter.
22. Remove exhaust pipe-to-manifold nuts, then remove left exhaust shield.
23. Disconnect Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor assembly.
24. Remove inspection plug, then the torque converter bolts.
25. Remove engine to transmission bolts, then remove engine mount bolts.
26. Remove crankshaft pulley assembly.
27. Remove starter motor assembly, ground cable and starter harness retainers from left and right sides.
28. Disconnect oil level indicator sensor. Partially lower vehicle, then disconnect oil pressure sending unit gauge assembly.
29. Position floor jack under transmission.
30. Position engine lifting equipment and remove engine assembly from vehicle.
31. Reverse procedure to install.
