Charge Lamp Does Not Come ON
1. Turn ignition switch to ON position.2. If all other warning lamps and instrument cluster do not light for a short period, service instrument cluster.
3. Remove three-pin voltage regulator connector, turn ignition switch to ON position and measure voltage at wiring harness "I" terminal. If voltage is more than zero, proceed to step 4. If voltage is zero, service open in circuit between alternator "I" and indicator lamp.
4. Connect wiring harness "I" terminal to ground with jumper wire. If lamp comes ON, proceed to step 5. If lamp does not come ON replace lamp or service high resistance in lamp socket or circuit between alternator "I" and indicator lamp.
5. Clean and tighten ground connections between voltage regulator and alternator, alternator and engine, then the engine and battery.
6. Remove one-pin "S" connector from alternator and measure voltage at wiring harness "S" terminal. If voltage is zero, proceed to step 7. If voltage is more than zero, check for swapped wires in voltage regulator connector.
7. Measure voltage at "S" terminal on alternator. If more than one volt and lamp is ON with one-pin "S" connector removed, replace alternator. If less than one volt, replace voltage regulator.
