Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

1. Center front wheels to straight ahead position.
2. Remove air bag module from steering wheel.
3. Disconnect speed control wire harness from steering wheel.
4. Remove and discard steering wheel retaining bolt, then install steering wheel puller tool T67L-3600-A, or equivalent and remove steering wheel.
5. Route contact assembly wire harness through steering wheel as wheel is lifted off of shaft.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Route contact assembly wire harness through steering wheel opening at three o'clock position. Steering wheel and shaft alignment marks should be aligned.
b. Ensure air bag contact wire is not pinched and speed control wiring does not get trapped between steering wheel and contact assembly.
c. Torque steering wheel retaining bolt to 25-34 ft lb.
d. Torque air bag module retaining nuts to 7-10 ft lb.
