Cowl Vent Screen - Water Leaks

WATER LEAKS - COWL VENT SCREEN - VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 4/1/96

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1993-96 COUGAR

ISSUE:
Water may be leaking into the vehicle interior compartment through the air circulation system during heavy rain and when the air flow control is set to high. This may cause water to be drawn through the cowl vent screen and into the air circulation system.

ACTION:
Replace the cowl vent screen with a revised Cowl Vent Screen (F6SZ-63018A16-AAA). Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the arm and windshield wiper assembly by referring to the 1996 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 01-16.





2. Remove the pad assembly-hood on cowl (Figure 1).

3. Disconnect washer hose assembly (Figure 1).

4. Remove four (4) attachment screws from the cowl screen (Figure 1).

5. Remove cowl vent screen and install revised Cowl Vent Screen (F6SZ-63018A16-AAA).

6. Reassemble parts removed in Steps 1-4 (Figure 1).
