Front
1. Loosen the tie rod end jam nuts at the tie rod ends and release the clamps at the small ends of the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals.
NOTE:
^ Be sure the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals are free on the front wheel spindle tie rods so they will not be twisted when the front wheel spindle tie rods are turned.
^ The left and right front wheel spindle tie rods are both right-hand threaded. To increase the toe, turn the right front wheel spindle tie rod toward the front of the vehicle and turn the left front wheel spindle tie rod by the same amount toward the rear of the vehicle.
2. Turn the front wheel spindle tie rods into or out of the tie rod ends an equal amount on each side to keep the steering wheel centered.
NOTE:
^ One turn of the front wheel spindle tie rod (both sides) changes the toe by approximately 6mm (0.24 inch).
^ Always set tracking directly after setting toe.
3. Check the front tracking. Set the tracking by using the rear wheels as a reference point. Follow your equipment manufacturer's instructions to check tracking. The angle of each front wheel in relationship to the rear wheels must be the same. This ensures a straight steering wheel while driving.
4. Always double check the toe setting after setting tracking.
5. When toe is correct, tighten the tie rod end jam nuts to 69-98 Nm (51-72 ft. lbs.). Verify that the front suspension steering ball stud dust seals ends are positioned correctly on the appropriate sections of the front wheel spindle tie rods and install the front suspension steering ball stud dust seal clamps.
STEERING WHEEL SPOKE POSITION
When making a toe adjustment, turn the front wheel spindle tie rods by equal amounts in order to avoid changing the steering wheel centering. If the steering wheel is off-center after making a toe adjustment, center the steering wheel.
