Starter Motor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
CAUTION: When servicing the starter motor and solenoid assembly or performing other underhood work in the vicinity of the starter motor and solenoid assembly, be aware that the heavy gauge battery input lead at the starter solenoid is electrically HOT at all times.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
4. Remove the lower bolt retaining the starter motor.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the two bolts.
7. Raise the vehicle.
8. Remove the starter motor from block mounting surface to gain access for wiring.
9. Remove the integral connector.
- Remove the nuts.
- Remove the integral connector.
10. Remove the starter motor from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the remove procedure in reverse order.
