SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Remove the interior rear view mirror.
2. Remove the windshield garnish moulding.
3. Remove the visor trim moulding.
4. Remove the screws and the visors.
^ Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the weatherstrips.
6. Remove the screws and the the weatherstrip retainers.
7. Remove the screw and the exterior A-pillar moulding.
8. Remove the screws and the visor.
9. Insert a spacer between the headliner and the roof panel.
10. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms.
11. Remove the cowl top vent panel weatherstrip.
12. Remove the cowl top vent panel.
13. Using the special tool, cut the adhesive.
CAUTION: Cover the instrument panel to prevent possible damage.
NOTE: Spray water on the area to be cut to make the cutting operation cooler and easier.
14. Using a suitable suction tool, remove the windshield and moulding assemblies from the vehicle.
15. Check the pinch weld sealing area for damaged sheet metal, rust or foreign objects which may cause breakage. Repair the metal if necessary.
INSTALLATION
1. Dry fit the windshield glass to the body.
2. Use tape or a crayon to make alignment marks on the windshield and the moulding assemblies.
3. Remove the windshield and moulding assemblies from the vehicle and place on a stable work surface.
4. Clean the windshield with a non-alcohol based glass cleaner.
5. Apply the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent to the windshield glass interior edges.
^ Apply the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent to the windshield glass interior edges 21 mm (0.8 inch) wide along the top and sides and 70 mm (2.75 inch) wide along the bottom.
^ Wipe the windshield glass where the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent has been applied.
NOTE:
^ Wipe off the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent immediately after application because it flash dries. Two coats of the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent must be applied.
^ Use a clean wool applicator to apply the Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C or equivalent.
6. Using a clean, wool applicator, apply the urethane glass primer to the interior glass edge 25 mm (1 inch) wide along the top, sides and bottom.
NOTE:
^ The urethane glass primer WSB-M2G314-A or equivalent must be mixed thoroughly for even pigmentation.
^ The urethane glass primer must cure for a minimum of five minutes before the windshield glass can be installed.
7. Use a clean wool applicator to apply the urethane metal primer to any exposed areas on the windshield pinch weld.
NOTE: A minimum of ten minutes is required for the primer surface to dry.
8. Trim the urethane on the pinch weld to 1-2 mm (0.04 to 0.08 inch).
NOTE: Clean around the pinch weld area to remove any dirt or foreign material that could contaminate the existing urethane once it is trimmed.
9. Install the interior rear view mirror.
NOTE: Leave a window slightly open until the adhesive skins over.
10 Apply the new Urethane Adhesive WSB-M2G316-A or equivalent in an even bead onto the existing urethane on the pinch weld. The applied bead should be triangular in shape and 16 mm (0.625 inch) high and 8 mm (0.33 inch) at the base.
NOTE: The windshield glass must be installed before the urethane adhesive skins over.
11. Install the windshield glass on the pinch weld.
NOTE: Leave a door slightly open until the urethane cures.
12. Align the windshield glass to the body using the alignment marks.
13. Install the cowl top vent panel.
14. Install the cowl top vent panel weatherstrip.
15. Install the windshield wiper pivot arms.
16. Remove the spacer and install the headliner.
17. Install the visors.
18. Install the windshield garnish mouldings.
19. Install the exterior A-pillar moulding screw.
20. Install the exterior A-pillar moulding.
21. Install the weatherstrip retainers.
22. Install the weatherstrips.
23. Install the visors.
24. Install the visor trim moulding.
25. Install the windshield garnish moulding.
