Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair
Fixed Orifice Tube Remover/Installer, Fixed Orifice Tube Remover & Refrigerant Line Disconnecting Tools (1/2" Blue & 5/8" Black):
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the refrigerant line using special tool 412-027 (high-pressure line).
4. Unclip the refrigerant line.
5. Disconnect the refrigerant line from the evaporator using special tool 412-081 (pressure pipe shown from below).
6. Disconnect the refrigerant line.
- Pull out the refrigerant line.
- Disconnect the screw-on cap on the refrigerant line.
7. Remove the fixed orifice lube.
- Insert the remover into the refrigerant line and hook it into the fixed orifice tube.
- Turn the nut clockwise and pull out the fixed orifice tube.
8. Remove the damaged fixed orifice tube.
- Use special removal tool 412-34 in conjunction with special removal tool 412-35.
NOTE: Only necessary if the fixed orifice tube is damaged.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
- Renew the O-rings and smear them with refrigerant oil.
- Renew the fixed orifice tube.
1. Refit the components in reverse order.
2. Evacuate and refill the air conditioning system.
3. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
